Turmeric Spiced Chai Tea

The purported benefits of an anti-inflammatory diet have been in the news a lot in the last 2 weeks, with recent research suggesting that it may help our mood, digestive health and even reduce risks of some chronic illnesses. Though fresh foods such as vegetables and oily fish are fantastic for promoting this, some of the most powerful anti-inflammatory ingredients are founds in most store cupboard - spices!

We absolutely love this easy tea recipe and regularly have a pot brewing in the afternoons to help keep us focused and alert, whilst warding-off sugar cravings. It makes a great replacement to a coffee and is turbocharged with goodness for mind, body and spirit.
The spices in this tea are not only warming and invigorating, but have mood boosting, anti-anxiety, energising, gut supporting, detoxifying and hormone balancing goodness inside. It's low in sugar, safe when fasting and the cinnamon helps to reduce sugar cravings and may even help to burn fat!

Rumour has it Oprah has a cup of this each afternoon! If it's good enough for her...

Ingredients
(makes 1 cup)

  • 1 Chai tea bag (any supermarket sell these)
  • 1/6 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/6 tsp cinnamon
  • Small pinch saffron (optional)
  • Dash of oat milk

Pour boiling water over the tea bags and herbs, and leave to stew for 5 minutes. Add a dash of oat milk to taste - this helps to naturally sweeten whilst also giving a comforting creaminess to the tea. Inhale the aromas as you sip away. Enjoy!
